Where To Buy Wedding Postage Stamps

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is the ultimate authority when it comes to who, what, when, where and how you can send your wedding invitations, save the date cards, and all other wedding-related mail. Over the years the USPS has offered a number of wedding-themed stamps for use on both one-ounce (which use forever stamps) and two-ounce letters. Custom stamps were available before June of 2020 but are no longer available for purchase.

The USPS currently offers a few 1st class 1oz wedding-themed forever stamps but most of the USPS postage stamps are less than idea for use to send wedding mail. The current face value of these stamps is $0.63. Here are some of the love/wedding themed postage choices:

Companies such as Minted and Zazzle previously sold 2,000 different wedding-themed stamps or you could even create your own custom postage stamps! Sadly, the USPS ended their custom postage program in June of 2020 and there are no companies left that offer custom postage stamps.

For more information, read about stamps and surcharges for non-machineable mail or use our postage calculator and we'll help you determine if your invitations are considered standard or non-machineable. Remember: Always take your mail piece to your local post office and have them weigh the item to be sure of the exact amount of postage needed.

Postage stamps are required to send wedding invitations, save the dates, RSVP cards, thank you cards, bridal party invitations and all other wedding-related mail. There are several wedding-themed stamps available to purchase from the USPS. With so many designs to choose from you can be sure to find a look that coordinates perfectly with your wedding stationery.

Thankfully WeddingStamps.US has spent over 12 years researching wedding postage and helping couples order the right amount of postage for their invitations and other wedding mailings. Here you'll find helpful tips and guidance about:

Buy stamps before they increase in price. To find out when the next postage increase will be, visit Forever Stamp Value. You can even sign up to get notified by email when the next price increase will occur.

Curate your vintage postage set based on wedding theme or incorporate tidbits of your personality! For instance, if you have a love for travel, you could source geographical stamps with places that are meaningful to you. If you are getting married in a garden or in nature, a collection of floral vintage stamps would be stunning. If you share a love for books or literature, there are a ton of stamps honoring famous authors. The possibilities are truly endless.

You could also curate your stamps based on your wedding color palette, which might be the easiest and most common route. Let your wedding colors be a guide and pick complementary colors or even go for a monochromatic look.

This is where a stationer will come in handy. Depending on how many pieces you are ordering in your invitation suite and what kind of paper you are using, you will need to figure out the correct postage amount based on the weight, size, shape, and thickness of your envelope.

Make sure that you will know how much postage you need to purchase and budget for it! You might be surprised to find that vintage stamps can be significantly more expensive than buying current postage stamps. Not all vintage stamps are priced equally, depending on availability and denomination. Be prepared to pay somewhere around 3-4x more for vintage stamps compared to the cost of purchasing current USPS stamps.

These are excellent tips Nole! I found that the most affordable route has been to go to a stamp/coin store directly. I also wholeheartedly agree with the advice about making sure that you find at least one or two high value stamps. Otherwise, the process of adding up postage and affixing stamps to your envelopes will take a LONG time. But if you do it with family members or your bridal party, the process can be quite fun and definitely pays off in the end.

Such a refreshing post. From the topic if stamps (vintage too boot) down to the thought process and layout of the stamps. Long live the etiquette, thought and passion that goes into a piece that goes in the mail. Whether it be a simple hello or extravagant wedding invitation. The feeling, thought and sentiment shines through.

You may request specific stamps you would like and I will do my best to accommodate your request. You may also request states/colors/themes etc and I will put together a set for you. Feel free to send any moodboards/photos/mockups that might be helpful and I can put together a set to complement. NO DUPLICATES (If you are looking for a set that adds up to a specific postage amount for MAILING MULTIPLE envelopes- please see my listing for CUSTOM CURATED POSTAGE SETS.

Rebecca was great! I received the stamps so fast! I appreciated the detail and work she put in curating different possible stamps fir my wedding in Mexico. I told her my vision and she was easy to work with! Super responsive! I will def. be buying again.

While the question about where I source my vintage stamps is often the first question I receive, the follow up question is always - how do I assemble vintage stamps on my wedding envelopes? I normally assemble the vintage stamps for my brides, but if you are assembling them on your own - I wanted to share my top 3 favorite tips with you today!

Like current post office stamps, vintage stamps come in "books" - aka sheets of stamps. Rather than the peel-and-stick style postage books, many vintage stamps are perforated sheets that simply need to be torn into individual stamps.

When assembling your wedding invitations, I recommend tearing your stacks of vintage stamp books into individual postage stamps. This will make your overall assembly process much faster! If I'm working on a small order (ex: shower invitations with a quantity of 25 or less), I may opt to simply tear as I go. However, for orders over 25 - I always like to tear them individually first to save time in the long run!

Once I have my postage stamps individually torn and in piles based on stamp style, it's time to select how my postage stamps will be organized on the mailing envelopes. Virginia (the owner of Verde Studio) is so amazing, and sends her recommendations about layout when she sends your order! But if you're determining your postage stamp layout on your own, here are my tips:

For invitations weighing between 31 g and 100 g, single stamps are available at a higher rate. Square invitations only require regular postage when mailed within Canada. They must be between 140 mm x 140 mm to a maximum of 156 mm x 156 mm.

All weddings are perfect in their own way, but some of my favorite sets of vintage wedding postage to curate pull in mountain themes that highlight vintage stamps that feature things like fly fishing, hiking, skiing, wildlife, and mountain flowers.

The best part of Minted's custom postage stamps is that you can use personal photographs that you upload right onto the site, whether you choose to feature your new dog, child, or fiancé.

There are custom options for your Save the Date, holiday greeting card, or year-round missives that range from your family name in your choice of colors to something more abstract and unique. You can filter options by category (baby and kids, holiday, stationery and occasions, and wedding) as well as color options and pricing. You can get them in three postage weights: one oz (50 cents), square or two oz (71 cents) or postcard (35 cents).

When it comes to wedding invitations, postage is one of the most complicated aspects to plan. USPS is constantly changing the prices and procedures to mail letters; it can be hard to keep up and ensure you have the correct amount of postage on your invitations.

If you are interested in custom or vintage stamps, you should plan to spend more than normal postage rates. Custom stamps usually come in at double the normal postage rates, while vintage stamps cost three times as much. I do not upcharge customers for custom or vintage postage, so you will pay exactly what I pay when ordering. I will create a design that ties to your suite if you choose custom. If you go vintage, I will curate a set of 4-5 vintage stamps that coordinate with the aesthetic and color scheme of your suite.

When it comes to wedding invitations envelopes postage & mailing are important factors to consider first, last, and throughout the entire process. Before you run off to the post office, read these 10 tips on invitation mailing. They will save time, money, and hassle and help get your invites to your guests in great shape and on time.

Any envelope weighing over 1 ounce will require additional postage regardless of size or shape. Typically by the time you throw in a invitation, response items, and any additional info cards, most wedding invitations will weigh over 1 ounce. 041b061a72
